Volunteer Spotlight #3

Meet Diana! Since retiring three years ago, Diana jumped into volunteering with OPHS working extensively at our Bark House Dog Campus. She has helped with duties associated with dog handling, housekeeping, dog socialization and training, volunteer coordination as well as administrative tasks. To say she is an asset to our team is an understatement!

According to Diana, her favorite part of volunteering is spending time with the dogs, especially working to build trust relationships with those animals who have had particularly traumatic experiences. “One of the happiest moments while volunteering at OPHS was when my husband was diagnosed with cancer last year and after he unexpectedly died seven months later, it was the coming and spending time with the dogs that helped make things more bearable. Even at the saddest times, the dogs made me smile.”

Her favorite type of animal to volunteer with is large dogs. Diana is a pet owner of course and has 2 cats currently: Sam, an orange and white tabby and Stewart, and orange tabby with a curly tail. Both Sam and Stewart are rescue kitties as all of Diana’s pets have been!

We are so very lucky to have such a friendly and wonderful addition to our volunteer family
